Mediaset and Sky, the truth on the HD. HD war has broken out, were the first televisions, and home videos with your Blue-ray, now moves to the front of the offers from television and football in high definition.
As usual, however, that Mediaset and Sky are not a key measure of the clarity of their offer, but studying binding contracts, often under the illusion that the first period with a particularly advantageous, without ever specifying the terms and that look good, of course, to force the user to pay beyond the terms of his will.
The reason is simple, infrastructure to support these new standards in cost, and return from the expenditure, and the only way you can conclude with some kind of subscription that forced him to finance the project for one if not two years.
is not the first time that these techniques are used, but it is certainly one of the most intricate cases that we have seen, especially now with the change of standards. The media bombardment
then nagging, with information using the offer as a hook, then tie you most unprepared to pay large sums, which may even reach 700 euro per year.
But we get into detail and try to explain as simply as possible the situation today, July 14, 2009, is presented.
The transition to HD stream
For years, we have seen the television set so that SD (standard definition) that is in the 516th, which indicates a resolution of 720x516 interlaced, and that is the standard for television 5 / 4 and for all new 16 / 9 (thus adapting to 704x480).
This resolution is ideal for CRT first, saw the first problem by switching to HD-ready TV (1280x720 progressive signal) and showed enormous difficulty with full HD (1920x1080 progressive) and is the reason why some products broadcast in SD (standard definition) make it better on television technically less efficient (since the scaler has to redefine the image with a lower margin).
fact, go from 1920x1080 to 720x516 causes a loss of higher quality than switching from 1280x720 to 720x516.
This is Sky and Mediaset have planned the transition to HD standards.
Sky
Sky offers a series of channels in HD at the promotional price of 49 € for the first 3 months, and then choose one from the fourth month of their package, MUST and the constraint keep them for at least 1 year at a cost effective then, choosing the interim proposal that includes the calcium of € 56 per month, for a total of 49 non-indifferent € 504 € for 3 months for the other spending that lead to 553 €. (672 in the system, not a few)
Vista so their offer is slightly different is not it?
But what they offer: channel 720 progressive or 1080 interlaced, and manageable from any HD ready TV in exactly the same way as a Full HD, a good choice, a good quality performance (personally tested) and a set-top box provided directly from them and made a modest contribution to the installation. It is well to remark
these data, because this impact on the choice.
Mediaset
Mediaset offer, from August 22, his proposal using HD digital terrestrial technology, its current offering, slightly more transparent than the Sky, see the possibility to choose the so-called easy pay arrangements (19, bound 90 per month 1 year, then 239 €), a one-off mode at 269 €, a more specific with your favorite team and Gallery at 199 €, but since the HD is still in testing phase is not clear that will be added an additional fee.
The problems of digital terrestrial television is first of all to Banda, was leaked in fact the possibility of limiting the direct order to offer the HD using the band free channels as well off, but more of Hardware.
Much of the LCD business is not in fact have an HD tuner for digital, and therefore require the purchase of an external decoder, and the lack of CAM to decode the HD signal, then adding a further heavy tax on users, always hoping that the propaganda is at least honest about it.
Considerations
There is no Panacea, on the one hand we have a more complete and modern (Sky) offered at a price, however, removed the blinders of the tenders, very expensive, the other a technology not yet well defined, of certainly in terms of lower band, but that is potentially save for the HD.
Certainly one thing is clear: there is no rush, the difference is significant, but eventually put off, especially because there is very clear, first of all contracts, technology second.
